Board of Auditors
The Board of Auditors is comprised of three individuals elected by the residents of East Norriton Township for staggered six-year terms. The duties of the elected auditors are spelled out in the Code governing Townships of the Second Class, and they involve the following: to audit, settle, and adjust the accounts of the Supervisors, Superintendents, Roadmaster, Treasurer, and Tax Collector of the Township and fix the compensations for the current year authorized for Supervisors. As the Township has grown, most of these functions have been contracted to an auditing firm that performs the annual compliance audits and prepares the Township's financial statements. The elected auditors, nevertheless, work together very closely with the Township staff and appointed auditors to ensure that all Township funds are properly expended and accounted for. The Elected Auditors meet once a year in January at its annual Reorganization meeting. At this Reorganization meeting, the Board of Auditors identifies the Chairman and Secretary of its Boards as well as establishes the amount of the Township Treasurer's Bond.
